Pride Jani

Pride Jani is a Partner in the Banking and Finance Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law, debt and preference share finance, and project finance. He advises clients across a variety of sectors on complex financing transactions, including bilateral and syndicated facilities, sustainability-linked loans, and cross-border financings across Africa and beyond.

Pride has advised on numerous significant transactions, including bilateral facilities of ZAR 5 billion for a major global mining group's unbundling of its platinum mining business; sustainability-linked facilities of ZAR 6.5 billion to a major South African retailer; and funding of USD 36 million to a major Ugandan pharmaceuticals company for the construction of a manufacturing facility. He has also advised on limited recourse financings for the Oasis Mookodi, Oasis Aggeneis, and Oasis Nieuwehoop battery storage facilities, each of 77MW, and on the financing of the 120 MW Paarde Valley PV2 solar plant and the 140 MW De Aar 2 South wind power plant. His cross-border experience spans South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, UAE, Tanzania, Malawi, Jersey, Ghana, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Pride holds an MCom (Taxation), an LL.B, and a BA from Rhodes University.
