Pooja Dela

Pooja Dela is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in Dispute Resolution. She advises clients across a broad range of contentious matters, including administrative and constitutional law, corporate and commercial disputes, business and human rights, public procurement, mining law, media law and defamation, crisis management, and data protection. She has litigated at every level of the South African judiciary, including the Constitutional Court, and has been involved in matters requiring legislative interpretation and government accountability.

She has advised clients in the public and private sectors, including non‑profit entities and non‑governmental organisations, across the broadcasting, transport, retail, construction, oil and gas, mining, and aviation industries. She has also conducted business and human rights‑related risk and impact assessments, and has expertise in reviewing governance structures and policies, regulatory and institutional framework mapping, and human rights due diligence. She spent a year at the Constitutional Court of South Africa as a clerk. She has been recognised internationally and domestically as a leader in Rule of Law litigation in South Africa.

Pooja holds an LLB from the University of KwaZulu‑Natal (2008) and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She has been named by Best Lawyers (2024‑2026) and Legal 500 (2018, 2024‑2025), and was part of the team that won Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team of the Year at the African Legal Awards in 2020. She was nominated for African Legal Awards' Attorney of the Year in 2016 and shortlisted for the International Bar Association's annual Pro Bono award in 2015 and 2016.
