Nicole Gilfelleon

Nicole Gilfelleon is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution Department at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, and data protection law. She represents clients in the High Court of South Africa and the Supreme Court of Appeal with a focus on complex commercial disputes, and advises on various data protection and privacy regulation related matters.

Nicole has advised a global technology services company in court proceedings relating to the cancellation of a B-BBEE transaction tainted by non-disclosure and collusion; one of South Africa's leading banks on recovery actions against defaulting creditors in business rescue and liquidation proceedings; a French multinational company on compliance with South African data protection and privacy laws in relation to a proposed acquisition; a manganese mining company on contractual disputes arising from health and safety breaches by its former contractor; a construction and engineering company in arbitration proceedings involving disputes arising from the construction of a small coal plant; a global leader in energy management solutions in arbitration proceedings involving a contractual dispute; and a South African financial regulator with disputes arising from enforcement actions under the Financial Sector Regulation Act. She has also conducted pro bono work on LGBTQ+ rights, conducted training for journalists on constitutional rights, and provided online training on digital rights and freedom of expression for women journalists in Africa.
