Nthato Padi

Nthato Padi is an Associate in the Shipping, Logistics and Commodities practice at Bowmans' Cape Town office, focusing on admiralty dispute resolution, in rem and security ship arrests, casualties, mortgage foreclosure and international arbitrations.

He has advised and acted for ship owners, charterers and their insurers on enforcement of international arbitration awards in South Africa and obtaining security for ongoing proceedings; advised a mortgagee bank on foreclosure of a mortgage registered against a vessel and the judicial sale; assisted a master and chief engineer in enforcing wage claims against a ship-owner; and advised on disputes regarding collisions at sea. He also handles matters involving drug-related vessel detentions and the sale of vessels in South Africa.

Nthato holds an LL.B (Cum Laude) from the University of Pretoria and is a member of the Maritime Law Association of South Africa.
