Miles Carter

Miles Carter is a Senior Consultant in the Dispute Resolution Department and a member of the Corporate Investigations Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, arbitration, and insurance disputes. He acts for a variety of clients in High Court, Appeal Court, and arbitration cases, representing both for and against insurance companies and various medical indemnity organisations.

Miles has assisted the National Prosecuting Authority in a major white-collar criminal prosecution lasting nearly ten years, working closely with revenue and Reserve Bank authorities, and has represented the Department of Defence before the Seriti Commission of Enquiry into the Strategic Defence Procurement Packages. His practice spans general commercial litigation, arbitration, and insurance-related disputes across a broad range of sectors.

Miles holds a BA and an LL.B from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a former Chairperson of the Johannesburg Attorneys Association, former Council Member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, and a Council Member of the Legal Practice Council.

He has been consistently ranked in Band 4 for Dispute Resolution by Chambers and Partners (2017–2020), recognised by Who's Who Legal in Legal Aviation: Contentious, Business Crime Defence: Individuals, and Asset Recovery (2018), and recognised by Best Lawyers for Arbitration and Mediation, Insurance Law, and Litigation (2017).
