Michael Rudnicki

Michael Rudnicki is an Executive in the Corporate Department and a member of the Johannesburg Tax Practice at Bowmans, specialising in tax advisory law, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and financial services tax. With over 20 years of tax experience, he advises on banking and financial services, M&A, private equity, executive incentive schemes, and general corporate tax matters.

Michael has consulted to major local and international banking institutions including Barclays, Nedbank, Investec, Standard Bank, JP Morgan, UBS, and Transaction Capital on balance sheet aspects, financial instruments, and derivatives. He has advised on numerous large M&A projects and has worked with leading South African and international private equity firms, including Rockwood, Harith, Ethos, Actis, Medu Capital, Capitalworks, DPI, Investec PE, and RMB Corvest. His experience includes fund establishment, acquisition assistance, due diligence, implementation, and exit readiness, and he has advised on the acquisition of Barclays Africa by ABSA Bank, the acquisition of Astrapak by RPC Group, and the acquisition of McDonald's South Africa.

Michael holds a BCom from Rhodes University, a BCompt Honours from Unisa, a BCom Honours in Taxation from the University of Cape Town, and an MCom from the University of Johannesburg. He is a Chartered Accountant (SA).

He is ranked in Band 2 for Tax: Consultants by Chambers Global (2024–2026) and in Band 3 for Tax (2020–2023), and is described by clients as "client focused and wants to do the best for his clients".
