Martin Versfeld

Martin Versfeld is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in Competition Law. He has been at the forefront of developments in this area since the commencement of the Competition Act in September 1999. He has been involved in numerous high-profile competition matters in South Africa and across a number of African countries, with particular expertise in the construction, tobacco, aviation, health, forestry, freight, fishing, liquid fuels, pharmaceuticals, shipping, sugar, pay TV sectors, and the fire protection industry.

He also has extensive knowledge of the medical industry and its regulation. His practice spans merger control, prohibited practices, compliance, and competition litigation across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

He holds an LL.B (1992), a BA (1990) from the University of Cape Town, and a Certificate in Competition Law from the University of the Witwatersrand (2000).
