Mark Phillips

Mark Phillips is a Partner specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity transactions, listings and de‑listings, black economic empowerment (B‑BBEE) transactions, cross‑border transactions, corporate restructuring, and corporate finance. He advises clients on commercial negotiations, agreements, employee share ownership schemes, and regulatory compliance. He has an established profile in the local market and was one of the founding directors of a boutique corporate and commercial law firm formed in 2003.

He has extensive experience advising on complex corporate transactions across multiple sectors, including M&A, private equity, and B‑BBEE structuring, delivering commercially focused legal solutions tailored to client needs. His expertise extends to corporate finance, restructurings, and regulatory advisory matters.

Mark holds an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand (1989), a BA Honours from the University of Cape Town (1984), and a BA from the University of the Witwatersrand (1983). He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has been ranked by Chambers Global (2012‑2026), Best Lawyers (2021‑2026), and Legal 500 (2016‑2022).
