Marita van der Walt

Marita van der Walt is a Director at DLA Piper, specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate finance, private equity, and general commercial work. She has 24 years of experience in private corporate transactions, acting for clients across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on telecommunications and infrastructure.

She has advised Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH) on the formation of a new intermediate infrastructure holding company to own its subsidiaries Dark Fibre Africa and other assets, and has advised Real Foods Proprietary Limited on the disposal of a significant part of its foods business to Virgin Active, as well as on the amalgamation of its Kauai and Nü restaurant chains into the Virgin Active Group. She has also acted as Borrower's counsel for existing corporate clients in banking and finance matters.

Marita holds a BLC (cum laude) and an LLB (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria (1999). She was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2003. She is recognised by Chambers Global (2024-2026) in Band 5 for Corporate/M&A and recommended by The Legal 500 (2024-2026) for Commercial, Corporate and M&A.
