Mariam Ismail

Mariam Ismail is an Associate at Webber Wentzel, specialising in Banking and Finance Law with a focus on financial regulatory matters. She advises local and foreign financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory issues, including insurance, banking, collective investment schemes, financial markets, and anti‑money laundering.

She has experience advising on custody of financial assets, transfers of insurance business, promotion of financial products and instruments in South Africa, OTC derivatives, and compliance with South Africa's anti‑money laundering and counter‑terrorist financing regime. She also acts for financial institutions in regulatory disputes and enforcement matters. Her practice spans both advisory and contentious regulatory work, delivering practical legal solutions to clients across the financial services sector.
