Lital Avivi

Lital Avivi is a Partner in the Competition practice at Bowmans' Cape Town office, advising clients across South Africa and other regional African jurisdictions on merger control, competition litigation, prohibited practices, leniency and exemption applications, and compliance audits.

She has been involved in key and complex transactions, including Allianz SE in relation to the Sanlam/Allianz Joint Venture, which won DealMakers Deal of the Year 2022 and reshaped the African insurance industry; advising NCR Corporation on its acquisition of the banking business of Altron Managed Solutions; advising Coca-Cola Beverages Africa on its acquisition of Castel Malawi Limited; and advising Aton GmbH on its proposed hostile takeover of Murray & Roberts, which set notable precedent in urgent interdict proceedings before the Competition Tribunal and Competition Appeal Court. She has also advised on behavioural investigations, including advising the Namibian Competition Commission in proceedings before the High Court and Supreme Court of Namibia, and the South African Bus Operators Association in relation to a Competition Commission investigation.

Lital holds BA and LL.B degrees and a Certificate in Competition Law from the University of the Witwatersrand.
