Layla Shah

Layla Shah is an Associate at Bowmans' Johannesburg office, practising in the Employment and Benefits practice, focusing on corporate employment matters and employment litigation.

Her experience includes employment due diligence in M&A transactions, preparing and advising on employment contracts and workplace policies, advising on employee exits, conducting investigations, and assisting with arbitration proceedings in the CCMA and litigation in the Labour Court. She has advised clients including Zara Retail South Africa, Alexander Forbes, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Marsh Africa and Organon South Africa on various employment matters, and is currently advising Sonke Gender Justice on its appeal to the Constitutional Court challenging maternity leave provisions in South Africa.

Layla holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (summa cum laude) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is a member of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW).
