Kgosi Nkaiseng

Kgosi Nkaiseng is a Partner at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in bankruptcy and insolvency law, business rescue, and commercial litigation. He provides expert business rescue, insolvency, and general commercial litigation assistance to a broad range of industry sectors, including financial services, mining and commodities, retail, telecommunications, aviation, and manufacturing, regularly acting for major financial institutions, liquidators, business rescue practitioners, and corporate entities.

Kgosi has acted for the business rescue practitioners of Rebosis Property Fund Ltd, a REIT listed on the JSE, in one of the largest business rescues in the market with total liabilities of ZAR 13 billion; the business rescue practitioner of Mango SOC Ltd with creditor claims of approximately ZAR 2.5 billion; a consortium of landlords in the business rescue proceedings of Edcon with creditor claims of approximately ZAR 6.8 billion; and the major senior lenders of Ascendis Health Ltd on the implementation of a restructuring plan. He has also advised Denel SOC Ltd in various litigious matters involving the multi‑billion Rand Hoefyster Project and advised the business rescue practitioner of Makunyula Anthracite Mine, Mpact Polymers, LA Crushers, and INSA. He also represented the National Union of Metal Workers in the first case where a trade union successfully applied to place a company in business rescue, saving approximately 200 jobs.

Kgosi holds an LL.B and a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law from the University of Johannesburg, and an Advanced Short Course in Business Rescue Practice from UNISA. He is a member of SARIPA and INSOL International.

He is ranked in Band 4 for Restructuring/Insolvency by Chambers Global (2025–2026) and recognised by The Best Lawyers in South Africa for Insolvency and Reorganization Law (2024).
