Julie Oppenheim

Julie Oppenheim is a Partner and Head of the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare sector Group, specialising in Health Care Law. She advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and corporate and commercial law with a specific focus on companies in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. She regularly advises on pharmaceutical regulatory matters, including medicine pricing (single exit price, logistics fees, data fees), the supply and distribution of medicines, medical devices and complementary medicines, marketing and advertising, and clinical trials.

She has extensive experience in cross‑border matters across various African jurisdictions, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Mozambique. In 2008, she undertook a six‑month secondment to Herbert Smith's London office. Her practice combines deep industry knowledge with transactional and regulatory expertise, delivering strategic legal solutions to clients across the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

She holds a B.Com LLB from Stellenbosch University, an LL.B from the University of Cape Town, and Certificates in Advanced Company Law I and II from the University of the Witwatersrand.
