Godfree Sekgale

Godfree Sekgale is a Senior Associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate and Commercial practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial law. He advises local and foreign clients on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and other corporate transactions, with experience across the telecommunications and energy sectors.

Godfree has advised Citrico Global SL on its acquisition of San Miguel Fruits South Africa and the simultaneous acquisition of the remaining 51% ownership interest in EC Citrus Investments; BTE Renewables on its acquisition of a controlling interest in the 75 MW Prieska solar project in the Northern Cape; SBA Towers South Africa on various asset and share acquisitions; Yamana Gold Inc. on its proposed USD 6.7 billion acquisition by Gold Fields Limited; and Hans Merensky Holdings on its multi‑step cross‑jurisdictional corporate restructure and the implementation of its employee share ownership plan.

Godfree holds a BA Law (Cum laude) and an LL.B (Cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court, Legal Practice Council.
