Emma Bleeker

Emma Bleeker is a Senior Associate at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specializing in Infrastructure Law. She assists clients on complex corporate and commercial transactions, including drafting, advising on, and negotiating the full suite of agreements applicable to the development and implementation of energy and infrastructure projects.

Emma has advised Sasol South Africa Limited on the procurement of renewable energy from multiple projects, including a 260MW project with TotalEnergies Mulilo and a 330MW wind project with Enel Green Power (one of the largest wind‑powered wheeling facilities in Africa). She has advised Anglo Corporate Services South Africa on its renewable energy captive power procurement and its joint venture with EDF Renewables; Anglo American Platinum on a captive power solar PV project at Mogalakwena Mine; Exxaro Coal on an 80MW embedded solar PV project; and Globeleq on the 153 MW / 612 MWh Red Sands project (the largest standalone battery energy storage system in Africa). She has also advised on bids under the REIPPPP and ESIPPPP, biomass projects, and a public‑private partnership for the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link System.

Emma holds an LL.B (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria, is admitted as an Attorney and Notary Public in South Africa, and is a Solicitor of England and Wales. She has been ranked as a Leading Associate for Projects and Infrastructure in South Africa by The Legal 500 (2025‑2026).
