Cathy Truter

Cathy Truter is Head of Innovation and Knowledge in the Johannesburg office, managing a team focused on knowledge management, AI and automation deployment, legal service improvement, and legal training across seven African jurisdictions, including Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

Prior to this role, Ms. Truter was a Partner in the firm's Corporate Department and a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions practice, specializing in M&A, capital market transactions, general corporate law, B-BBEE transactions, and restructurings, with extensive experience managing cross-border African and international transactions. She also worked at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York in the project finance practice.

She holds an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand and a BSc from the University of Pretoria, and completed the Leading Professional Services Firms Programme at the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School.
