Casper van Heerden

Casper van Heerden is a Partner in the Johannesburg office, practicing in the firm's Capital Markets Law and Finance practice. He specialises in debt capital markets, including corporate bond issues, domestic medium-term note programmes, commercial paper programmes, inward listings, global medium-term note programmes, high-yield bond issues, and securitisations, advising issuers, arrangers, and dealers on both listed and unlisted debt capital market transactions.

Mr. van Heerden has advised on bond issues for Standard Bank of South Africa Limited (ZAR 2 billion), Transnet Limited (ZAR 2 billion), Barloworld Limited (ZAR 1.5 billion), Telkom Limited (ZAR 2.22 billion), and South Africa's first convertible bond issue for Aquarius Platinum Limited. He has assisted with the establishment of DMTN programmes for Mobile Telephone Networks (ZAR 10 billion), Mercedes Benz South Africa (ZAR 18 billion), Transnet Limited (ZAR 18 billion), and Eskom Limited (ZAR 65 billion), and advised on various securitisation programmes and the first DMTN programme by a foreign bank in South Africa.

Casper holds BProc, LLB, and LLM degrees from the University of the Free State. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the JSE Ltd's Advisory Committee (Bond Market). He has been ranked by Chambers Global in Band 1 for Capital Markets: Debt (2015-2026) and by IFLR1000 as a Market Leader for Debt Capital Markets.
