Anton Lockem

Anton Lockem is the Joint Managing Partner at Shepstone & Wylie in Durban, specialising in tax law. He assists clients with disputes against the South African Revenue Service (SARS), tax litigation, corporate and business transactions and reorganisations, international transactions, tax administrative law (including voluntary disclosure applications, suspension of payment requests, compromise and deferral applications), employee benefit structures and employees' tax, VAT‑related matters (including inbound and outbound transactions), tax planning, estate planning, and exchange control matters.

He is a member of the Tax Administration Workshop Group of the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT), serves as an external examiner for the University of KwaZulu‑Natal's Tax Masters Programme, and is Chairperson of the Tax Board. He has served on the Board of Governors at Gelofte School and on the Finance Committee of Highbury Preparatory School.

Anton holds an LLB from the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE), an LLM in Tax Law, and a Certificate in Intermediate Financial Accounting from UNISA. He was elected as joint Managing Partner of Shepstone & Wylie from 1 September 2025.
