Viyola van Zyl is a Senior Associate specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). She advises local and foreign clients on a range of domestic and cross‑border corporate transactions, with expertise in general corporate matters and M&A.

She has been involved in advising Sommet Education on its subscription for shares in Invictus Education Group Proprietary Limited (IEG) resulting in it holding 60% of the issued share capital of IEG, AfriSam Group Companies on its ZAR 6.5 billion debt‑to‑equity swap deal, Linde Plc on the take‑private of its JSE and Namibian Stock Exchange‑listed subsidiary African Oxygen Limited by way of a scheme of arrangement, and a multinational food and beverages company on its restructuring to the value of ZAR 4.5 billion.

She holds an LL.B degree (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria.
