Tyron Theessen

Tyron Theessen is a Partner specialising in cross-border and domestic engineering and construction transactions in the mining, property, infrastructure, and energy sectors. He advises on drafting and negotiating engineering and construction contracts, including standard forms such as FIDIC and NEC, as well as bespoke arrangements, and provides strategic guidance on legal disputes, applicable legislation, and the management and administration of claims.

He began his legal career at Webber Wentzel working on the EPC and O&M elements of project finance transactions in the energy space, then shifted focus to dispute‑related matters across a broad range of construction disputes. Having gained experience on both the front‑end and back‑end of construction matters, he now focuses on transactional work in the built environment and continues to advise clients on a broad range of construction‑related matters.

Tyron holds an Advanced Certificate in Construction Contract Law from the University of Pretoria (2013), an LLB from Rhodes University (2011), and a B.Com (Economics and Law) from Rhodes University (2009). He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He has been ranked by Chambers Global (2018–2026), Best Lawyers (2020–2026), Legal 500 (2019–2025) as a 'next generation partner', and IFLR1000 (2022) as a rising star.
