Lize-Meré Ludick

Lize-Meré Ludick is a Partner at Bowmans' Johannesburg office, specialising in construction and engineering law within the infrastructure and energy sectors, with a strong emphasis on dispute avoidance and alternative dispute resolution.

She advises on a wide range of construction and project-related matters, handling contracts under standard forms including FIDIC, NEC, GCC and JBCC, as well as bespoke agreements such as EPC, O&M and PPA contracts. She has extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, advising on Solar PV, wind farm and hydroelectric projects, including those under South Africa's REIPPPP. Notable matters include advising a prominent Chinese contractor on claims and dispute management for large-scale wind farm projects, advising Eskom on the Medupi and Kusile power projects, acting for Scatec Solar, Caledonia Corporation, and advising Siemens Mobility, Palabora Mining Company and Sasol Chemical Industries on complex construction disputes and contract management.

Lize-Meré holds an LL.B from the North-West University, where she was a member of the Golden Key Honour Society. She is a qualified mediator (Conflict Dynamics), an Associate of the Association of Arbitrators, and a member of the Society for Construction Law, the Construction Adjudication Association of South Africa, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the International Bar Association.

She is recognised by Chambers Global as a Band 4 lawyer for Construction in South Africa (2025–2026), by The Legal 500 as a Leading Partner for Construction (2026), and by The Best Lawyers in South Africa for Construction Law. She received the ACL Rising Star Award in 2023, and her team won Property and Construction Team of the Year at the Africa Legal Awards in 2024.
