Sephetha Mpja

Sephetha Mpja is an Associate in the Finance Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law, structured finance, and acquisition finance. She advises lenders and borrowers on secured and syndicated finance, fund finance, mining and resource finance, debt restructurings, public-private partnerships, preference share funding, and real estate finance transactions, as well as debt capital market transactions including medium-term note programmes.

Sephetha has advised Ecora Resources PLC on the purchase of a USD 10 million royalty in relation to rare earth products from the Phalaborwa project; a private equity client on raising ZAR 625 million through preference shares to acquire a leading hybrid IT systems integrator; a South African bank on ZAR 900 million facilities for the acquisition of scheme shares through a scheme of arrangement; a syndicate of lenders on ZAR 1.2 billion facilities for the construction of a data centre in South Africa; FirstRand Bank on the refinancing and restructuring of McDonald's South Africa's debt package; and the Government of the Kingdom of eSwatini on the establishment of a ZAR 4 billion medium-term note programme.

Sephetha holds a BSc and a BSc Honours (Geology) from the University of Limpopo, and an LL.B from the University of the Witwatersrand.
