Olwethu Gusha is a Partner at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law, leveraged and acquisition finance, and cross-border financing. He structures debt for private equity deals and corporate acquisitions across multiple African jurisdictions, advising major South African and international financial institutions on complex USD‑denominated transactions in Mauritius, Kenya, Zambia, and the DRC.

Olwethu has advised a syndicate of two South African banks on ZAR 2 billion and USD 350 million facilities to a mining borrower; a South African financial institution on a USD 22 million term loan to a Bahamian borrower for an acquisition; a syndicate of four major South African banks on ZAR 6.5 billion facilities to a JSE‑listed borrower for refinancing and working capital; a Namibian lender on a NAD 102 million term facility for the construction of two solar plants; a syndicate of three South African banks on USD 129 million facilities to a Singapore borrower for commodity prepayments; and a major South African bank on ZAR 1.2 billion facilities for an acquisition and working capital.

Olwethu holds an LL.B from the University of Cape Town and a BA from the University of the Western Cape. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
