Kimberleigh Saamlaal

Kimberleigh Saamlaal is an Associate in the Shipping and Logistics Department at Bowmans' Durban office and a member of the Shipping, Aviation and Logistics Practice, focusing on shipping and maritime law.

She has experience in security and in rem arrests, admiralty dispute resolution and international arbitrations, and has worked closely on matters involving claims for missing cargo and general logistics disputes. Notable matters include advising charterers and their insurers on arresting bunkers of a ship on time charter as security for international arbitration proceedings; advising an international logistics services provider on loss of cargo claims; acting for stevedores in the arrest of a cargo of bitumen drums on board a vessel in a repair yard; and acting for a ship repair yard in international arbitration proceedings for unpaid repair costs.

Kimberleigh holds an LL.B (summa cum laude) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a member of the Maritime Law Association of South Africa.
