Kate Collier

Kate Collier is a Partner based in Johannesburg. Her primary practice area is Labor Law, and she specialises in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) law.

She has an interest in the impact and management of workplace health and safety risks in commercial transactions, including large disposals or acquisitions of businesses. Her areas of expertise include regulatory and risk management advice, accident and non-conformance investigations, occupational health and safety related disputes and regulatory inquiries, occupational health and safety business crimes and prosecutions, commercial drafting and due diligence assessments.

Her occupational health and safety expertise has been recognised by various international research organisations, including Chambers Global, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers. She has been named by Chambers Global 2016–2026 as a ranked lawyer, by Best Lawyers 2018–2026 as a leading individual, and by Legal 500 2016–2025 as a 'Next Generation Partner'.

She holds an International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) (2022), a Postgraduate Certificate Course in Advanced Administrative Law from the University of the Witwatersrand (2013), and certificate courses in the implementation and audit of occupational health and safety management systems from North-West University (2011). She holds an LLB (2005) and a BA (2003) from the University of the Witwatersrand and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
