Jan Viviers

Jan Viviers is an Executive at ENS in the Corporate Commercial practice, specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate restructuring, financial services, financial markets and securities law, corporate crisis management, corporate finance and equity capital markets. He has extensive experience in cross‑border transactions and has acted for various large corporate institutions (listed and unlisted), local and international investment funds, insurance companies, asset management companies, and agribusinesses.

He has acted as lead advisor in some of the largest corporate transactions in South Africa, including a recent transaction in the liquor industry with a transaction value of R65 billion, and the collapse of a listed company's multi‑tiered ownership structure (both nominated for Deal of the Year by Dealmakers). He has also advised on various other large acquisitions, matters relating to the Takeover Regulation Panel and JSE Listing Requirements, and the structuring and restructuring of local and international private equity and venture capital funds.

He holds a BA from Stellenbosch University, a BCom (Honours) from the University of Cape Town, and an LLB from Stellenbosch University. He is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is recognised by Best Lawyers® for Corporate Law, including as Corporate Law Lawyer of the Year (South Africa) in 2018.
