Candice Eve-Friis

Candice Eve-Friis is a Partner and Head of the Family Law Department at Shepstone & Wylie's Umhlanga office, with over 18 years of experience specialising in family law and matrimonial litigation. She handles divorce, maintenance, domestic violence, surrogacy, adoption, child relocation, and other family‑related matters, with a particular focus on children's welfare.

She holds rights of appearance in the High Court and has been appointed by the High Court of South Africa as a Child Legal Representative. She is a qualified mediator and has received extensive training through the South African Association of Accredited Mediators (SAAM). She is also qualified in drafting parental plans, parental rights and responsibilities agreements, surrogacy agreements, separation agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding in mediations.

She has served as secretary of the inaugural Family Law Forum of the KZN Chapter and has completed further certifications in the Children’s Act and Notarial Practice. In 2025, she was appointed to the Board of Governors for Durban Girls College.

Candice holds an LLB from the University of KwaZulu‑Natal (UKZN), where she received multiple Dean's Commendations, and has completed certifications in the Children's Act from the University of Pretoria and Notarial Practice. She is bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
