Victoria Anthony

Victoria Anthony is an Associate in the Competition Practice Group at Bowmans in Cape Town, specialising in competition law and regulatory compliance. She has been involved in numerous complex, multi‑jurisdictional mergers across Africa, advising clients on merger approvals, competition compliance, and intervention proceedings across a broad range of sectors.

Victoria has assisted with merger notifications in various African jurisdictions, including CEMAC, COMESA, ECOWAS, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa, and has guided clients through public interest considerations within the South African merger control landscape. Notable matters include advising BASF SE on the EUR 11.2 billion transaction involving Harbour Energy plc and Wintershall Newco; a multinational telecommunications company in an investigation by the COMESA Competition Commission; a multinational investment firm on a EUR 2.2 billion acquisition in the information technology market; Rand Air South Africa in proceedings before the South African Competition Commission; and a multinational investment firm on a USD 1.2 billion acquisition in the logistics and transportation sector. Her clients span consumer goods/FMCG, financial services, healthcare, insurance, logistics, private equity, pharmaceuticals, and mining.

Victoria holds an LL.B from the University of Stellenbosch and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
