Ridwaan Boda

Ridwaan Boda is an Executive at ENS, heading the award-winning Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice and co‑heading both the Fintech and Data Privacy practices. He specialises in technology law, data protection and privacy, fintech, and corporate law, with expertise spanning IT and telecommunications, data governance, artificial intelligence, data commercialisation, and corporate law.

Ridwaan has acted as lead legal counsel on many of the largest and most complex technology transactions in the Middle East and Africa region. He has built a Chambers and Partners Band 1 rated team in IT and Telecommunications law, while the Fintech team has earned the same distinction in its field. He is a sought‑after speaker who has addressed prestigious events on four continents and has mentored many of South Africa's most accomplished legal professionals.

Ridwaan holds a BCom and an LL.B from the University of the Witwatersrand, and an LL.M from the University of South Africa. He is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

He has served for over a decade as a member of the United Nations Data Governance and AI Expert Group (formerly the UN Privacy Advisory Group), is a former Chair and Vice Chair of the Substantive Law Committee on Technology Sourcing for the International Technology Lawyers Association, founded and chairs Privacy Officers Africa, and serves on the board of the International Sport Lawyers Association. He has been recognised by Chambers Global, Best Lawyers (including Information Technology Lawyer of the Year), and Client Choice Awards.
