Khatija Kapdi

Khatija Kapdi is the Managing Attorney at Dentons South Africa, practicing in the Corporate & Commercial and ESG practices, specializing in Corporate Law. She also serves as the Africa Sector Lead for Hospitality and Leisure.

Khatija advises on corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, investigations, and regulatory reporting, with a particular focus on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters. She serves on the Dentons Global ESG Steering Committee and acts as Project Manager for the Dentons Africa ESG campaign. She practices extensively in the energy sector with a developing focus on renewable energies. Notable matters include advising Barloworld Limited on a black economic empowerment programme involving a property transfer deal, employee share scheme, and trust establishment; advising Czech‑based Draslovka on its acquisition of Sasol's sodium cyanide business; and advising Eskom on environmental compliance at various power plants and the Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Programme. She has also conducted investigations into racketeering and compliance matters for listed companies, and advised multiple global clients on the South African regulatory landscape.

She holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biodiversity and Ecology from Stellenbosch University (2017) and an LL.B from the University of Cape Town (2020). She was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2023.
