Jenny Klein

Jenny Klein is a Principal Associate in the Tax practice at ENS, focusing on Tax Advisory Law. She specialises in employees’ tax, individual income tax and international tax matters, and is closely involved with inward and outbound assignments of employees.

She has extensive experience advising companies across various industries, including retail, mining and financial services, on employees’ tax matters, employee benefits and incentive schemes, personal service providers and independent contractors, and payroll reviews. She also advises South African and multinational clients on expatriate tax planning, tax equalisation and the application of double taxation agreements, and assists with expatriate payroll calculations and local tax compliance obligations.

Jenny’s experience includes negotiations with the South African Revenue Service on employees’ tax matters, assisting with the Alternative Dispute Resolution process and drafting applications for advance tax rulings. She also advises high net worth individuals on tax issues relating to local and offshore trusts and on South African exchange control requirements, as well as on the tax considerations applicable to retirement funds.

She is a member of a dedicated ENS team specialising in the commercial, financial, legal, tax and regulatory aspects of employee and management remuneration, benefits and incentives, and a member of the Personal & Employment Taxes Technical Work Group of the South African Institute of Taxation. Jenny holds a B Bus Sci, an LLB and a Postgraduate Diploma in Tax from the University of Cape Town, and is admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
