Jason Wilkinson

Jason Wilkinson is a Partner at Bowmans in Johannesburg, focusing on banking and finance law, with expertise in leveraged and acquisition finance, mining and resource finance, real estate finance, trade finance, debt restructurings, and ESG and impact finance. He advises leading financial institutions, private equity sponsors, investment funds and multinational corporations across Africa and internationally.

He has advised on a wide range of complex, cross-border transactions, including advising National Treasury on a sustainable solution to Eskom's debt crisis; advising PepsiCo Inc. on the ZAR 25 billion acquisition financing for its acquisition of Pioneer Foods; advising AB InBev on the ZAR 15 billion stock loan arrangements and the SAB Zenzele Kabili B-BBEE ownership transaction; advising Orion Mine Finance on novel streaming arrangements totalling over USD 200 million for the Platreef Mine; advising Royal Bafokeng Platinum on a USD 145 million gold stream purchase; and advising on the ZAR 5.25 billion financing to Old Mutual Group Holdings. He also advises on impact finance, including financing for AgDevCo, the IFC, and sustainable tourism and conservation projects. He was the lead partner on the team that won the African Legal Awards 2016 Banking, Finance and Restructuring Team of the Year for the Morocco shopping centre financing.

He holds a BA and LL.B from Rhodes University and completed the Common Professional Examination and Legal Practice Course in London.
