Etienne Badenhorst

Etienne Badenhorst is a Senior Forensics Manager at Bowmans in the Johannesburg office, specialising in Corporate Compliance. He has over 20 years of experience in planning, managing and executing forensic investigations across a broad spectrum of industries and jurisdictions, often involving high‑profile individuals.

Etienne has investigated matters including employee negligence, exchange control violations, conflicts of interest, fraudulent procurement, theft of high‑value consumables, nepotism, irregular expenditure, ghost bidding in the auction industry, and irregular bonus payments. He has worked closely with the Special Investigating Unit and other authorities, and has conducted investigations in South Africa, Botswana, the DRC, Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Prior to joining Bowmans in 2017, he worked at a Big Four accounting firm.

Etienne holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of South Africa, a Certificate Programme in Advanced Fraud Examination from the University of Pretoria, a Diploma in Criminal Justice & Forensic Accounting from the University of Pretoria, and a Certificate in Money Laundering Control from the University of Johannesburg. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, an Affiliate of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a Commercial Forensic Practitioner with the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners.
