Carmen Schoon

Carmen Schoon is an Executive in the dispute resolution | insolvency, business rescue and debt recovery practice at ENS, specialising in insolvency law, debt recovery and business rescue.

She has experience in High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal matters ranging from dispute resolution to insolvency. Her practice covers acting for creditors, liquidators and trustees throughout the insolvency process, including proof of claims, meetings of creditors, insolvency interrogations and litigation relating to administration or winding-up. She also focuses on tender procurement matters, including unlawful awards, and has acted for several private entities in appealing tender awards and resulting litigation. She regularly acts for the four major banks in South Africa and has acted for private financiers in complex contractual disputes.

Carmen holds an LL.B from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Certificate in Advanced Programme in Insolvency Litigation and Administration Practice from the University of Pretoria. She is an admitted attorney and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.

She is a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Board of the South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association and lectures part of the South African Advanced Insolvency Course through Insol International.
