Zara Sher

Zara Sher is an Executive at ENS in the Dispute Resolution practice (Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation) and Insurance Practice Group. Her practice focuses on Insurance Law, particularly insurance and reinsurance-related matters.

Zara has extensive experience and depth of expertise in dealing with insurance disputes and analysing insurance programs. She has a particular interest in insurance claims disputes and complex insurance claims, and is an accomplished litigator in relation to insurance claims, on-demand insurance guarantee claims and other security arrangements. She also has experience in construction disputes and general commercial litigation matters.

She has specific expertise in commercial business insurance covers and is well versed in various insurance product wordings, including Assets All Risks (Property Damage and Business Interruption), Commercial Crimes, Cyber, Goods-in-Transit, Professional Indemnity, Directors' & Officers' Liability, General and Public Liability, Political Violence (including SASRIA), and Construction and Engineering. She was involved substantially in the business interruption insurance claims consequent upon the Covid-19 pandemic, the July 2021 Kwa-Zulu Natal political violence claims and the 2022 Kwa-Zulu Natal flood claims.

Zara is a member of the ENSureAfrica team, dedicated to providing insurance law expertise across the continent. She holds a BCom (cum laude) and an LLB (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand and is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She is an associate member of the Insurance Institute of South Africa and is recognised by The Legal 500 EMEA as a Key Lawyer for Dispute Resolution in South Africa.
