Noor Kapdi

Noor Kapdi is Dentons' Africa Region Chairperson and Chairperson South Africa, specializing in Oil and Gas Law. He is a founding partner of KapdiTwala and has extensive experience in all aspects of the oil and gas upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, as well as private equity, M&A, and project development.

Noor has been responsible for developing and implementing Dentons' strategy in the Africa region for over seven years, growing the firm's Africa presence to over 18 offices across Angola, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zambia. He has negotiated joint ventures with logistics companies in Mozambique, advised on operating rights and farming in gas fields with the Mozambican National Oil Company, developed policy and compliance frameworks for the petroleum sector, and provided regulatory advice to South Africa's largest bio‑ethanol plant. He has also been involved in all aspects of private equity, including buy‑outs, venture capital, fund formation, and management.

Noor holds a B Proc from the University of Cape Town (1984) and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1992. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and has served as deputy chairperson of the Western Cape Investment & Trade Promotion Agency and acting chairperson of the South African Oil and Gas Alliance.

He is ranked by IFLR1000 as a Notable Practitioner for M&A and Project Development in Energy and Oil and Gas (2019–2025), and recognised in Best Lawyers South Africa for Oil and Gas Law (2020–2026). He was also named an Acritas Star (2019) and received the Cape Law Society's Presidential Award for establishing the first black law firm in South Africa with an international affiliation.
